Tom Richardson

September 26, 1945 — August 29, 2025

Layton-Tom Richardson, 79, was called home to heaven, Friday, August 29, 2025.

His love story continues in heaven, where he joins his cherished wife, Dorothy Richardson.

He leaves behind daughter; Christine (Mike) Maki, Clinton, Utah; son; Kevin (Angie) Richardson, Layton, Utah; sister, Wenea Jurgens, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Tom was the son of John and Annie. He was born on Wednesday, September 26, 1945, in Cache County. Growing up he was the second oldest of four children. From a very young age he developed a love for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, camping, anything to enjoy his time in nature. Family was everything to Tom, anytime family wanted to visit or needed him he was always there. He would light up whenever his children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren were near him. He always was there to pick the grandchildren up from school even if he didn’t need to, was at every birthday, dance recital, and graduation that he could be. He withstood all of life’s challenges, he never complained and always put others first.

Tom, while in high school, met a girl from another school. She turned out to be the love of his life Dorothy Richardson. They were married on Friday, October 9, 1964, in Layton, Utah. Together they raised three children, the love they had for each other grew exponentially every year.

Tom worked as the head custodian for over 40 years at Layton Elementary. Due to his personality many people recognized him when he wasn’t at work. He had a sense of humor for the ages and could get anyone to laugh or blush. He had a huge impact on many of the students there, including some of his grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, son Dawayne, mother Annie, Father John, brothers Dale and Johnny.
