Tok Yoshimura

Tokuo Yoshimura, 91, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at McKay-Dee Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born November 10, 1924 in Ogden, Utah to Saburoji and Tome Taguchi Yoshimura. On January 16, 1950, Tok married Yoshie Morimoto in Ogden, Utah.
Dad was a member of the “Greatest Generation”. He was a veteran of World War II. He trained in Minnesota to be a translator and finished his service in Hawaii as the war ended.
Dad was a member of the Utah-Idaho Buddhist Temple where he served as past President.
At his farm in Roy dad grew tomatoes and corn along with many other crops. People came from out of state just to purchase his produce.
Later, he became a school bus driver. For 22 years he had the opportunity to drive for Roy High sports teams. He was always a favorite with the players and coaches.
He received The Outstanding Citizen Award from Roy City in 1992. In 1995, dad received an Honorary Diploma from Roy High. After retirement, he still attended many Roy High games. He enjoyed watching his grandkids participate in sporting events. Poker in Wendover was one of his favorite activities.
Dad’s priority was his family and had them at the house continuously.
Tok is survived by his wife Yoshie; their children, Calvin Yoshimura, Layton; Jeff (Alyson) Yoshimura, Farr West; Diane (Randy) Jackson, Karen (Bill) DeVries and Betty Shellabarger, all of Roy, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and one brother, George (Jeanette) Yoshimura, Roy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Utako (Yoshikazu) Shigemura, Aki Okuda, Dai (Sumi) Yoshimura, Tobe Martinez, Masayo (Harry) Sato, niece, Debbie Yoshimura and nephew, Ron Martinez and daughter in law Ruth Anne Yoshimura.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Ogden Buddhist Temple, 155 North Street. The family will meet with friends Wednesday August 10th from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Ogden Buddhist Temple
