Listen to Obituary

Tim Seitz passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on December 20, 2025. Born on May 4, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Jack Seitz and Anna Hill. Tim grew up exploring the woods of his childhood home–places where he first discovered his appreciation for nature and wildlife.

After graduating from Bishop David High School, Tim began his journey as a machinist apprentice with L&N Railroad. His dedication and strong work ethic carried him to roles at International Harvester and eventually Philip Morris International. When Philip Morris closed its Williamsburg location, Tim embraced a new chapter, turning his long-held volunteer passion into a full-time calling as a Firefighter EMT. For 12 years, he served the Hampton Fire Department with courage and compassion, contributing his skills to the Search & Rescue Dive Team, the Marine Emergency Response Team and the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Strike Team. His service was not just a job, it was an act of devotion to the safety and well-being of others.

Tim was a proud member of the James River Rod & Gun Club, a Master Mason and member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

He had a deep affection for history and all things vintage–vehicles, tools, bourbon and especially boats. But nothing captured his heart quite like his beloved 1962 wooden Trojan Cruiser, “Dire Straits.” For many years, the Trojan was his companion, his project and his pride. With patience and craftsmanship, Tim had her restored beyond her former glory at the White House Cove Marina–where friends often found him enjoying a tall tale and a few cold beers.

A true outdoorsman, Tim cherished the quiet thrill of hunting deer, squirrel, rabbit, and especially birds. Tim never met a dog he didn’t love or who didn’t love him. He liked to cook and prided himself on his wild game cooking skills. Much to his delight, he was a continuous winner in the Poquoson Yacht Club Chili Contest entering many a chili venison version.

Tim’s legacy of hard work, adventure and love for the outdoors will long be remembered by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tim is survived by his wife Terrie, daughter Kelli Baird (Randy), son Scott Seitz (Season), stepsons Greg and Mark Myers and four grandchildren: Chase Baird, Brody, Caroline and Collins Seitz.

Preceded in death by father Jack Seitz, stepmother Barbara Seitz, mother Anna (Granny) Kennedy and sister Cheryl Thompson.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 3-5 pm at The Poquoson Yacht Club; 417 Messick Road, Poquoson, Virginia.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
