Tom was born in Salinas, California on March 11, 1961, and left us on July 6, 2024. He was raised in Soledad, California, and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1979. Post graduation, he fulfilled a mission for the LDS Church then earned an Associate of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Hartnell College in Salinas. An exception was a stint as an investigator for the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association which he enjoyed immensely.

He was a lifelong afficionado and scholar of all things Navy. He would have happily joined the Navy, but chronic migraines prevented that. He took pleasure in tennis, photography, Toastmasters and his involvement with the Logan chapter of Sea Scouts.
