Thomas Tolman

Bountiful

Thomas B Tolman, husband, father, grandfather, military veteran, community servant, artist, and business owner, passed away on April 16, 2023, at the age of 79. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

 

Tom was born on May 30, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Eric and June Barnett Tolman. He was a graduate of Bountiful High School in 1961 and Weber State University in 1971. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and served his country in the Vietnam War during the Tet Offensive.

 

In 1966, Tom married Carol Anderson, and they began a life together that would span over 56 years. Together they raised five children and shared many adventures and accomplishments.

 

Tom was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life, including a full-time Mission to the Northwestern States from 1962-1964. He had a strong faith in God.

 

Tom was also an accomplished graphic designer and artist. He taught art and photography at Bountiful High School from 1971-1973. He co-founded a graphic design business and made T-shirts for many car shows over the years.

 

Tom was deeply committed to his community, serving as a Bountiful City Council Member for 12 years and was one of the founding members of the Bountiful Historical Commission. He worked tirelessly to find a home for the Bountiful History Museum, preserve his hometown's history and educate others about the area's rich heritage.

 

Tom will be remembered as a talented man who lived a life of service. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created.

 

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol. Children; Sandi Tolman, Susan Mitchell (Jamee), Chris Hatch, Jaren Tolman (Anita), and Nathan Tolman (Angie). Grandchildren: Nikolas, Erika, Emma, Sydney, Jacob, Alex, Judson, Samantha, Tiare, Dexton, Deyton, and Journee. Step-Grandchildren: Parker, Braden, Alex, and Sarah; also by his brother Max (Jackie) Tolman, and sister Norma Jensen.

 

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ray Tolman.

 

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at thel Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, located at 727 N 400 E, Bountiful, UT 84010.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Bountiful Tabernacle, located at 55 S Main St, Bountiful, UT 84010. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

Services will be live streamed by scrolling to the bottom of Tom’s obituary page.

 

Friends and family are invited and encouraged to drive their classic cars to the funeral and in the procession for Tom’s last car show.
