Theril H. Lund passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2025. Theril was born on June 24, 1955, in Long Beach, California, to Theril Lester Lund and Myrna Joy Howard. He spent his early childhood in Hollywood, Long Beach, and Palos Verdes alongside his older sister, Pam, before his father’s career took the family to Houston, Texas, and later to Atlanta, Georgia.
From an early age, Theril loved baseball, go-karts, and dirt bikes. While living in Atlanta, his father was diagnosed with colon cancer and passed away shortly after. His mother then relocated the family to Utah to be closer to relatives, where Theril deepened his connection with his grandparents and many cousins.
The family settled in Bountiful, Utah, where Theril entered junior high. Living at the base of the mountains, he developed a lifelong love for adventure. He persuaded his mom to let him buy a dirt bike, and from then on, he rode through the mountains from Farmington to Salt Lake City—where the rides just got bigger and faster, a passion that carried through his life and became something he was known for.
During his school years, Theril was an active athlete, playing baseball, football, tennis, hockey, and participating in track. He even started the bowling team at Bountiful High School, where he graduated from in 1973. Theril then went on to continue his education while attending Utah State University and Weber State University.
On September 19,1980, Theril married Loni Logan, and they made their home in North Salt Lake City, Utah, where he completed his degree in accounting and became a CPA. They welcomed their first two children, Jill and Craig, during this time. In 1986, Theril returned to his beloved Long Beach, California, for a year before relocating to the Roseville/Granite Bay, California area, where their son Mark was born.
Over the years, Theril worked in automotive, grocery, technology, construction, while using his CPA in accounting. He became a partner at a CPA firm and helped launch what is now Peak Investment Solutions, guiding clients in building their financial futures. In 2003, after retiring from his CPA partnership, the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Theril worked as General Manager for Freightliner of Arizona. He also continued to grow Peak Investment Solutions and later helped start EVO Natural Gas, expanding his career into energy investments.
Beyond his career, Theril loved being involved in his children’s sports and activities, creating lifelong memories and friendships. After retiring at 60, he returned to his Long Beach roots, enjoying time at his home there as well as in Arizona. He filled his days with golf, beach trips, collecting cars, performance driving, car shows, and air shows.
Most importantly, Theril cherished being “Papa” to his grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy.
Theril is preceded in death by his parents, Myrna Joy Howard and Theril Lester Lund, and his sister, Pamela Sue Evans. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Loni Lund, children Jill Hutchings (Ryan), Theril Craig Lund (Catriona), and Mark Lund (Robin); and his beloved grandchildren Jayna, Jayden, Brynley, Theril Hudson, Presley, Maverick, and Luna; along with an aunt, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Theril will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of family, and the many lives he touched with kindness and laughter.
