“Together Again” Thane “Blackie” Koford ROY – Thane Koford, 84, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007. He was born September 13, 1922 in Levan, Utah, a son of Arthur and Edna Poirett Koford. Thane married Mattie Christine Butler on October 17, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia. Three children were born of this union: Susan Hansen, Diana (Ed) Duran, and Tony Koford. Mattie passed away September 19, 2004. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thane worked at the Park Valley CC Camp and later served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1942, serving in the Philippines. Thane was a meat cutter by trade. His favorite pastimes were hunting Black Smith Fork Canyon, fishing, reading magazines and trips to Wendover. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, we’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. Special thanks to Washington Terrace Nursing Center for their kindness and thoughtfulness. Also, thank you to all at Vista Care Hospice – with special thanks to Mindy, Linda and Dan. Surviving are his children, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one brother, Larry Koford. Thane was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers, one sister and two great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday Noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
