Terri Lyn (Gordon) Payne

July 2, 1964 — February 14, 2024

Bountiful, Utah

Terri Lyn (Gordon) Payne, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandma, passed away on February 14, 2024 at the age of 59. She was born in Spanish Fork, Utah on July 2, 1964 to H. Elaine (Robertson) and Leland Gordon.

Terri grew up in Springville, Utah and graduated from Springville High in 1982. She studied and earned an associates degree in Early Childhood Education at Utah Technical College where she met her sweetheart, Michael Payne. They were married in the Manti Temple on August 1, 1985. Together, they had four children: Nathan, Cassie, Alissa, and Kristen. Her family was her greatest joy and she cared for them deeply. She was a wonderful example of someone who put others' needs before her own.

Terri’s happiest moments were spent with her family. She often enjoyed making holiday crafts, baking, and preparing Sunday dinners with the family. One of her favorite pastimes was going for drives in the mountains during the fall, her favorite season, and taking family pictures next to the autumn leaves. She loved creating memories and had a hobby of making scrapbooks of family adventures. Her family is eternally grateful for the amount of time she spent organizing over 45 scrapbook albums.

She had a natural artistic talent and enjoyed sketching and painting. Her sewing skills were also put to use when making her kids’ Halloween costumes, matching doll clothes, and play outfits. She had a knack for interior design and enjoyed making her home festive for every holiday.

Terri knew all there was to know about child development and taking care of kids. She worked at various elementary schools as a teacher’s aide and reading tutor. She loved being around children and helping them learn and grow.

One of her best excitements was finding out she was going to be a grandma - something she had been looking forward to since her kids had grown. She was able to lovingly welcome her grandkids, Hudson (6), Nora (3), Ava (1), and Calum (1) into the world. Although she wasn’t given much time with them, she loved each of her grandkids very much.

Terri is preceded in death by her parents Elaine and Leland Gordon, and her older brother, Tim Leslie. She is survived by her husband, Michael Payne; children, Nathan (Korinne), Cassie (Sebastian), Alissa (Braydon), Kristen; four grandchildren; and her sister, Tamara Petroff.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful memory care staff at Avamere at Mountain Ridge in Ogden, Utah who cared for her in her final months. They would also like to thank the nurses at Inspiration Home Health and Hospice who made her final days peaceful.
