TERREL E. DAVIS

SEPTEMBER 28, 1938 – MAY 24, 2015

This sweet, gentle, soft spoken man, Terrel Eugene Davis, was the love of our lives. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Ogden Regional Hospital on May, 24, 2015. He was our “soldier” our “warrior” and fought a great battle until he was too frail and weak to continue the fight. He asked to be released from this life so he could return to his heavenly home.

He was born in Rupert, Idaho to Ephraim and Arilla Davis. He was the youngest of four much older siblings and was always nourished with plenty of attention, love and hugs. All the love he received during those developing years carried over into his adult life and he showered his family with the greatest of love. He loved his two wonderful children, Jace E. Davis and Jacqueline Jill Flink. He never could do enough for them and he always wanted them close.

He received his BA at Idaho State University and later received his Masters Degree in Business Administration. It was at ISU that he met his college sweetheart and upon graduation they were married in Buhl, Idaho on July 8 th 1961. Their new adventure together all started at Ft. Benning, GA as a young 2 nd Lieutenant with a beautiful, loving wife at his side. Terrel took his family on quite a ride through the years. His duty assignments took him and his family to: Ft. Lewis, WA, Berlin, Germany during the Berlin Crisis, Idar-Oberstein, Germany, Ft. Lee, VA, Vietnam (two tours of duty), Ft. Bragg, N. Carolina, Taegu, Korea, Sharpe Army Depot and Tracy Defense Depot in CA where he retired in 1984 as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 24 years in the US Army. He loved his country and was willing to serve, but during those times that he had to be separated from his family he made sure that his family was first and foremost in his mind.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren skiing, snowmobiling, hiking and sailing. He also had his private pilot’s license and loved taking his two children flying with him.

Terrel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland California LDS Temple on February 27, 1976. Terrel loved to serve others and it showed by the various positions that he held over the years: Young Men Presidency, High Priest Group Leader, High Council, Sunday School Teacher, Bishop, and Branch President. With Shirley by his side they served an 18-month inner city service mission in Salt Lake City. They also served as ordinance workers in the Jordan River LDS Temple.

Terrel is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Terry and Ephraim; two sisters, Stella Ferbrache and Dorothy Francisconi; and his father and mother-in-law, Loyal and Emma Mason.

He is survived by his loving devoted sweetheart, Shirley Ann and two children, Jace (Shannon) Davis, Jill (Steve) Flink; and his sister, Betty Luippold. He is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren, one who is currently serving an LDS mission, and six great-grandchildren who were the love of his life.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the LDS Crescent 16h Ward, 275 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT. Friends may visit family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Norton Cemetery , McCammon, Idaho.
