Listen to Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on April 30, 2026, at the age of 58.

Teresa was born on June 9, 1967, the youngest of three daughters to Duane Frank and Barbara Lucille Brown Thomas, whom she loved deeply. She was raised in Plain City, Utah, in the home her father built—a place filled with memories she cherished throughout her life. As a young girl, she loved helping her dad on the farm, where she proudly learned to drive a stick shift truck. Summers were spent vacationing in Yellowstone, trips she always looked forward to.

She graduated from Weber High School in 1985, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime and remained close to her heart.

Teresa later married Mike Guthrie and became the proud mother of two children, who were truly her whole world, Wesley Michael Guthrie (born 1986) and Stephanie Guthrie (born 1988). She was a devoted and selfless mother—always present, always supportive, and always willing to do anything to bring happiness to her children.

She spent many years working throughout the Ogden area, where her kindness, warmth and sense of humor touched countless people.

Her greatest joy in life came from her five grandchildren, Treyson Wesley Olesen, Tucker Duane Guthrie, Kinley Marie Guthrie, Kira Lynn Guthrie, and Kanyon Drayke Murphy. They were the light of her life. She spoke of them constantly with pride and love, and nothing made her happier than spoiling them with treats, new outfits, and anything they wanted. She would do absolutely anything for them.

She found happiness in the simple things, like homemade pizza, snacks and movie nights surrounded by the people she loved most. She loved watching true crime documentaries and scary movies. She had a funny and sarcastic sense of humor—she could make anyone laugh and had a special way of turning anyone’s frown upside down. Whenever her children, grandchildren, or friends were feeling down, she always knew exactly how to make things better.

She made every holiday and every birthday so special for her family. She loved Christmas and Thanksgiving the most and we will cherish every memory we have with her during the holidays and try our best to continue celebrating in the same ways she taught us.

She was the best mom and grandma anyone could ever ask for—selfless, giving, and full of love. She always put her children and grandchildren before herself, and her love for them was endless.

Teresa is survived by her children, Wesley Guthrie and Stephanie Guthrie; and her beloved grandchildren, Treyson, Tucker, Kinley, Kira, and Kanyon; and sisters, Kathy and Francene. She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Frank Thomas; and her mother, Barbara Lucille Brown Thomas.

She takes with her a huge part of all who loved her, and she will be deeply missed and loved every day for the rest of our lives.
