Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, Teresa Brown Barnes, passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 75, after a short but courageous battle with lymphoma. She peacefully departed this earth surrounded by her loving family.
Teresa was born on June 11, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Raymond Rex Brown and Adair Welling Brown. She grew up in Layton, Utah, and graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State College.
Teresa married her sweetheart, Leo Stanley Barnes, on June 19, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five children. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years but later worked for Davis School District as a bus assistant for 24 years.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Teresa enjoyed serving in many different callings, but she treasured her time serving in the Primary and with the Young Women, making many life-long friends. She was devoted to working on family history with her sister Jolene and enjoyed finding family connections.
She loved spending time with her family, playing games with her grandkids, and making memories at our vacation home at Bear Lake. She had a strong testimony of Eternal Families and of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our loving Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her great-grandson, Banks Martin Lobato, her parents, Raymond and Adair Brown, her sister, Jolene Brown, her father and mother-in-law, Orval and Effie Barnes, and her father-in-law, Stanley Barnes.
Teresa is survived by her children, Lisa (Wade) Lake, Kristin (Greg) Smith, Clint (Angie) Barnes, Kadee (Nate) Frew, and Bryce Barnes, her 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Her family extends a special thanks to her friends and ward members for their many acts of kindness and love, and to the staff at Family Tree and A+ Hospice for the tender care they provided for our Mom these past few months.
