Sydney Grace Morgan Smith

December 20, 1989 — November 2, 2022

West Point

Can you hear Jesus?  “Well done, Sydney. Welcome home, child…we’ve been preparing your mansion.”

Sydney is running the hills of Heaven and dancing on the streets of gold!  She waited a lifetime to do that!  The angels in Heaven sounded the trumpets as she entered in.

Born days before Christmas, she came in fighting!  She almost didn’t make it those first few days and weeks after suffering a stroke at birth.  Even with a diagnosis of spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy due to that stroke, she never ever gave up.  She went through years of physical, occupational, and speech therapies to help her get strong, and she never complained.  This life was not an easy one for her!  Multiple surgeries, illness and decline continued throughout her life.  But, to see her, you would never know.  She was a gentle soul with a tender heart, and the biggest, brightest smile.  She was always quick with a laugh, or a knock-knock joke.  She lit up a room!  Her giggle was contagious.  Heaven help us if she saw a kissy part on a movie…she’d laugh until she cried.  Sydney’s compassion for others is the kind that you can only hope will continue to light the world!

After an eight-day battle with double pneumonia secondary to coronavirus, Sydney took her last breath on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.  When she woke that afternoon, the first face she saw was Jesus.

We are heartbroken, not because we are without hope, but because we will miss her.  We will miss her every day.  The only solace at this moment is that her struggles on earth are over and she is one hundred percent whole. She is HOME. The battle has been won.  And she lives in victory!

Sydney is survived by her mom, Tara (Webb) and stepdad, Ronald Burns; dad, David Smith and stepmom, Kali (Morrow); sister, Hannah (Jason) Thompson; brothers, Michael (Emmalynn) Smith, and, Tony (Makayla) Smith; stepsister, Sarah (Tina) Burns; stepbrothers, Jason (Cheryl) Roberts, and, Geoffrey (Crystal) Burns; uncles, Rick (Linda) Webb, Brian Smith, Douglas (Julie) Smith, and Patrick (Angel) Smith; Nana (Maria) Webb; and much extended family including cousins.

Those who have predeceased her include her Papa (Richard) Webb; Grandpa (Wallace) and Grandma (Beulah) Smith; brother, Tyler Smith; and infant cousin, Daniel Webb.

Viewing will be held at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, located at 869 South 2000 West, in Syracuse, Utah, on Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Aaron Culberson officiating.  Interment will take place at a later date.

Sydney Grace, you were loved and wanted forever and a day!  Your impact on the lives of the those with whom you came in contact is immeasurable.

Nana, you poured your life into Sydney and helped to give her the best of life on earth!  We couldn’t have done it without you!

A very special thank you to Pam Orton who came daily to help Sydney at home with the most basic of cares for the last four years.  Thank you to Community Nursing Services (Andrea, Deanna, Laura, Andrew, and Roy).  These were hard days, and you gave us the shoulders we needed to lean on.

Thank you to our friends that we consider family…we could not make it through without your love and unwavering support for us.

Syd, your mama will continue to love you the whole earth, moon, and every twinkly, blinkly star!  You are living your best life now, baby!
