Sybella "Sid" M. Morris

Sybella “Sid” M. Morris OGDEN – After 97 years of a wonderful life, Sybella “Sid” Moon Morris passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007. She died as she wished, living in her home enjoying a full and complete life with friends and family. Sid was born in Cherry Creek, Idaho on February 25, 1910 to Verlorum and Rachel Williams Moon. She was the oldest of six sisters (Teressa, Helen, Evelyn, Celia, Ralene) and one brother (Verlin). She lived in Cherry Creek until she married John “Jack” R. Morris on December 29, 1931. They lived most of their married life in Ogden where Jack was an official on the Union Pacific Railroad and a Yardmaster for the O.U.R. & D. She was very active in the U.P. Old Timers and the S.P. Old Timers and held a variety of positions. Jack died on March 5, 1996 and she was a widow for 11 years. Sid had three great loves: The Gospel of Jesus Christ, her family, and the Utah Jazz. Not necessarily in that order for she was passionate about the Jazz. “Don’t come see me when the Jazz are playing for I won’t open the door”. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she particularly enjoyed Relief Society. Sid was an outstanding cook (ask her grandchildren) and a great friend and neighbor who will miss her as we will. Surviving are three children, Jackie (Brent) Baddley, Larry (Carole) Morris, S. Tim deceased (Tamra Mortenson), Craig (Shanna) Morris, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She knew them all by name. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, S. Tim Morris, her parents, and two sisters, Teressa and Evelyn. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Email condolences to the family at www.lindquistmortuary.com
