Susan Kay Hansen Peterson, 73, passed away after battling a host of chronic illnesses on April 30, 2023.
Susan was born November 28, 1949 to Betty Ann Young and Wendell LeRoy Hansen at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
Susan was the oldest of 11, with 10 brothers and sisters, Marilyn (Late David) Brusch, Mark (LaDean) Hansen, David (Patricia) Hansen, Glen (Myrna) Hansen, Matthew (Christina) Hansen, Neil Hansen, Paul (Cindy) Hansen, Julie (Clay) Kirkham, Bill (Tracy) Hansen, and Barbi (Scott) Harrington.
Susan attended Lorin Farr Elementary, Central Jr High, and Ogden High School graduating in 1968. She also attended classes at Weber College. She worked part-time while attending high school at American Linen. After graduation, she was hired by Clyde Miller at the Secretary of State’s Office.
Susan married the love of her life Leslie Charles “Chuck” Peterson in the Logan Temple May 21, 1971 and they began their family, Derek (Angela) Peterson, Melissa Martinez, Pamela Bolkcom, and Amanda (Kelly) Carter.
After Chuck and Susan married, she transferred to the Utah State Road Commission. She retired in December of 2005 after 36 years from the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT).
Susan had a caring and kind heart full of intent. She was constantly giving and putting her family’s needs before hers. She loved her friends and enjoyed serving them as well as her neighbors and communities.
She was Nana Suzie to 10 grandchildren, Megan, Ty, Isabel, Alexander, LeRoy, Camron, Marco, Landon, Xzavier, and Coralena. She loved to read to them when they were little.
Susan is survived by her husband, three of four children, and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Bolkcom; and her parents.
Unfortunately, Susan’s daughter Pamela passed away 19 days earlier. Chuck and Susan had no burial arrangements nor did Pam. We are asking that in place of flowers you donate beforehand to help Chuck cover the burial expenses of his daughter and wife.
