Listen to Obituary

Steven Richard Benson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 27, 2025. He was born in 1972 at Hill Air Force Base Hospital and would have been turning 54 on January 5. Although for much of Steven’s life he battled a seizure disorder, it never took away from his ability to live his life to the fullest.

Steven had a deep love for all things trains and could often be found “working” at the Union Pacific switch yard or riding the Frontrunner train and busses. He also loved farming and cherished his time at Daniel’s Goat Farm, especially milking his beloved goat, Elizabeth. He frequently visited Nate’s dairy farm, where he enjoyed milking the cows there.

On Sundays, Steven enjoyed playing the drums after service at Community United Methodist Church, and watching the bell choir ring his bell, which always had a red ribbon so he could identify it. He was a beloved member of the community who never met a stranger and was always eager to share his passions with everyone he met.

Steven is survived by his father, Richard Lewis Benson; his brothers, Jeffrey Benson and wife Karen, and Scott Benson and wife Katiuska, and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Lee Benson.

Steven will be missed but dearly remembered for his joy, kindness, and the genuine love he had for people and simple pleasures. We’re thankful for all the loving care provided by others for Steven throughout his beautiful life including the staff at Forest Green Group Home, and McKay-Dee hospital ICU staff in Ogden, and the countless individuals at UTA and Union Pacific.

Funeral services were concluded at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton on Fairfield Road in Layton, Utah on December 31, 2025.
