Steven Aguirre
Steven Patrick Aguirre, age 58, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in
Murray, Utah.
Steven was born on June 8, 1965 in Bountiful Utah to Edna Diane White and Luis Aguirre.
Steven was the oldest with 5 sisters and had 1 step brother and 2 step sisters. Steve loved to
tease and play pranks on his sisters. Steve enjoyed spending time with his uncles, Kevin and
Von.
In 1989 Steve met his wife, Cynthia Ann Cummins (Cindy). They were married in the Salt Lake
City Temple on April 14, 1990. During the course of their life together they had four children.
Steve was a graduate of Granger High School in 1984. He served a Spanish speaking mission
for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the San Antonio, Texas mission and later
transferred to the Rapid City, South Dakota mission. Steven enjoyed serving his Heavenly
Father and those around him throughout his life. He was passionate about computers and video
games, and taught himself to program. He made many games for his siblings on the Atari
system. After his mission, Steve worked for Sculptured Software, programming video games for
various gaming systems, including Atari and NES Nintendo. He is accredited for many Nintendo
games because of his work on the sound drivers. During this time, Steven went on to receive
his associates in Mechanical Engineering from Salt Lake Community College.
After working for Sculptured Software, Steven went on to work for IHG programming their
reservation and priority club systems. In 2009 he started working at Zions BanCorporation on
their Online Banking Systems. At this time, Steven decided to obtain his Bachelor's Degree in
Computer Science. He graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors from Weber State in April
2018. Throughout his life Steven was often found tutoring others in their quest to learn
programming. He also shared his passion for computers with his children.
Steve enjoyed hobbies where he loved to build and fly model rockets and drones. He enjoyed
anything Sci-Fi involving Star Wars and Star Trek. He enjoyed traveling and camping. He loved
taking his family to amusement parks and riding the tallest roller coasters he could find. He
especially loved Disneyland and Universal Studios. He came alive on those trips and would
excitedly schedule them out to the minute. He loved spending time with his family.
Steve battled many illnesses throughout his life including Hodgkin's disease, ongoing heart
problems, and pancreatic cancer. He peacefully passed away on February 21, 2024
surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his four children; Christopher (Kyra), Adam, Ethan, and
Jarom; and one grandson, Luke, whom he adored. Steven is also survived by his mother,
Diane; his father, Luis; and his 5 sisters; Caryn Clark and her husband, Tim; Angela Stephany;
Amy Aguirre and her husband, Bobbie Martinez; Gina Kingrey and her husband, Jim; Tara
Boyce; 2 step sisters, Johnni Cutler and husband, Woo; Antonia Nelson; and a step brother,
Jeff Aguirre and all his cousins and other family members. He will be greatly missed by all those
lives who he has touched.
We are grateful for all the medical personnel who helped Steven throughout all his health
concerns.
Funeral services will be held on March 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints chapel at 1395 South 200 East in Farmington, Utah. A viewing will be held
prior to this beginning at 9:00 am. at the same location. For those who cannot attend,
services will be live-streamed and may be viewed by scrolling to the bottom of Steve’s obituary page.
