Stephen Gary Vockel (SGV) passed away peacefully at home with his family around him on Tuesday July 16, 2024. Steve was born May 18, 1946, in Denver Colorado to Myran H. and Mary Jane Vockel.
He met the love of his life, Lorraine Hall, from Ogden Utah while working in the Tetons for Chevron. They married February 11, 1967. After a short start in life in Colorado they relocated to Utah where he loved raising their children: Tawnya, Derek and Ronalee.
Steve was a “Man with a Plan” who lived his life by the three C’s - don't Criticize, Condemn or Complain. To say he was a hardworking man would be a very large understatement. He was a visionary, building a successful company, Energy Machine Service, where he made an impact on everyone he met.
Steve and Lorraine are blessed with three outstanding children, twelve grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. There has never been a dull moment in their lives, traveling, celebrating, relocating, spectating at every grandchild’s event, pranks, advice and oh so much love. “Grandpa” was by far his favorite title.
Steve’s legacy will continue on through his family. He is survived by his “honey” Lorraine, daughter Tawnya (Scott) Zeidler, son Derek (Jayme) Vockel, and daughter Ronalee (Troy) Tolman; his eleven grandchildren Tad, Mykah (Carson), Rigg (Sadie), Tayten (Chelbi), Averie, Spencer (Victoria), Emerie (Tanner), Garrett, Callie, Grace and Bo; and eight great-grandchildren Swayzee, Frankie, Hayes, Grey, Beckett, Georgia, Alta and Jovie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Greg, his granddaughter Gabrielle and great grandson Maddox, as well as many pets, especially his buddy Colter Bay.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 29, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
The service will be live-streamed and may be viewed by scrolling down to the bottom of Stephen’s obituary page at www.lindquistmortuary.com
