He was born April 28, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilford and Aneesa Thomas. He grew up in Salt Lake City, South Ogden, and Roy, Utah, and also lived four years in Chatteroux, France. He married Sharene Cottrell August 10, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised two children in Centerville, Utah where they lived since 1978.
He graduated from Weber High School and then Weber State University with degrees in Marketing and Photography. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paris, France. Stephen loved his neighborhood and ward members. He could often be found on the golf course with family or friends.
Survivors include his wife, Sharene, of 39 years; two children, Angelique (Trevor) Jones and Scott (MaryLynn) Thomas; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Aneesa Thomas, and sister Patricia Nicholls. Preceded in death by his father Wilford Thomas, Jr.
He will miss watching his precious grandchildren, Jarret, Sabrina, Kimball, Brixon, and Zoe grow up, but he hopes to be a ministering angel watching and helping them as they grow.
