KAYSVILLE a€" Stanley Edwin Bates, 84, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at Apple Tree Assisted Living.

He was born May 22, 1927 in Ogden, Utah the son of Joseph and Verna Louise Christensen Bates. He was reared and educated in Plain City. Stanley retired from Defense Depot Ogden as a warehouseman.

He was a Christian and enjoyed bird watching.

Surviving are his brother, Leland J. (Barbara J.) Bates, nieces and nephews, Christine Wallis, Robert (Becky) Russell, Scott Russell, John Russell, Carl (Penny) Bates, Rosanne Bates, Debra (John) Boatright and great-grand-niece, Amillya Mehnke.

Preceded in death by his sister Mary Russell, brother-in-law, Jack Russell and nephew, Leland Bates Jr.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.
