Shirley Duvall Starley
July 14, 1924 ~ December 28, 2015
Our sassy, sweet, smart, and kind mother and grandmother Shirley Duvall Starley passed away on December 28, in Ogden, where she was born to Ruby H. Hunt, and William V. Morris on July 14, 1924.
She graduated from Weber State University and practiced social work for the Utah Dept. of Social Services. Her specialty was working with teenage girls in a group home setting.
Shirley was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ogden, where she taught Sunday and Bible School. She was an avid reader and history buff. She loved to travel and would give you a detailed lesson of how each state or country she visited was founded. She was passionate about the theater, ballet, opera, and the symphony. Her greatest love was her family, and she rarely missed a sporting event, recital, and concert or school program if her grand or great grandkids were involved.
Shirley was married to C. Keith Duvall deceased, and William V. Starley who was her constant travel companion, and kind stepfather, and step-grandfather to all. His quiet demeanor and great whit was always a comfort to Shirley. He preceded her in death in 2000.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Jill Kogianes and Steve, Marcia Cosper and Randy, Debbie Taylor and Brent; eight grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
The family would like to thank Mountain Ridge Assisted Living and Comfort Worx Hospice for the kindness they always showed Shirley!
