Shirley Dunn, 81, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Roy, Utah.

 

He was born March 15, 1942 in Dingle, Idaho to James Rowel Dunn and Lois Winnefred Kearl.

He was raised in Bennington, Idaho.

 

Shirley married Wanda Smith in June of 1963. They were married for 30 years before divorcing. They remained close friends and they cared for each other more than ever.  He also cared for longtime friend, Viola and her family.

 

He moved to Layton where he resided for the remainder of his days. He had a big heart and was willing to give the shirt off his back to help.

 

Shirley enjoyed riding ATV’s, camping, woodwork, gardening, and driving trucks traveling around the country.

 

He is survived by his children,  Berry Ellis (Angela) Dunn, Ogden; Chad Elliott (Shelly) Dunn, Syracuse; James Herbert  (Jennifer) Dunn, Monroe, GA; Dan Anthony (Wendy) Dunn, West Valley City; Beth Harrington, Ogden; Betty Jean Christian, Ogden; and Ann (Tony) Zocchi, Roy; 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Camila) Dunn, Lewiston, ID; Clinton (Mary) Dunn, Dayton, ID; and two sisters, Lois (John) Long, North Salt Lake; and Eyvonne (Dennis) Long, Ogden.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers James, Harvey, Richard and Alvero and sister, Katherine.  

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Bennington Chapel, 24 East Center Street, Montpelier, ID.  The family will meet with friends Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

 

Interment, Bennington Cemetery.
