Shirley Jean Croft Bingham

Shirley passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024 surrounded by her family at her home in South Weber. Shirley was the 6th child of Earl O. Croft and Ila Stokes Croft Ballard. Growing up she was also known as Shirley Curless. She graduated from Weber High School in 1955.

Shirley was married to Roy Flitton, together they had a daughter Cindy, they later divorced. She later married Ronald Hand, together they had two children, Ronnie and Ellen, they later divorced. Shirley married Ronald Allen Bingham on July 15, 1974, in Reno, Nevada, celebrating 50 years this month.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of her favorite days was the day she took out her endowment on June 23, 1997. Shirley held many positions in the church. She loved the children she taught from Nursery, Primary and Sunday School. She also enjoyed working in the library and on the relief society planning committee.

Shirley loved life, beautiful things, especially nature and took time to enjoy the beauty all around her. Shirley was very artistic and a talented painter and dancer. She loved all kinds of crafts. Shirley was always dressed beautifully and is known for her sense of fashion by her friends. Shirley had a special love for her family and loved each of them in a different way. 

Shirley is survived by her husband Ron, her children Cindy Backer and Ronnie Hand Jr, step-son Eric Bingham, her grandchildren, Shawn Backer, Misty Heard, Amanda Lillegard, and step-grandsons Tommy and Jake Bingham, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother David Curless.

Preceded in death by her daughter Ellen, her parents, her step-dad Earl Curless and step-dad Neil Ballard, siblings, Lola, Donna, Arlene, Raymond and Norman and her son-in-law Marvin.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Weber 5 th Ward, 2620 East 8200 South, South Weber, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday July 11, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, and prior to the service Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Church.

Interment will be in the Plain City Cemetery.
