Shirleann "Tiss" Martindale

Shirleann “Tiss” Martindale, 72, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 28^th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Tiss was born on December 28^th, 1950, in Ogden, Utah to William and Shirley Ann Etterlein. She attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Ogden Utah.

Tiss worked for Weber Human Services in Ogden, Utah, for many years before retiring in 2009.

She married the love of her life, Stan Martindale on July 19^th, 2002, and the pair of them went on to have many adventures together. Tiss loved the outdoors, and she and Stan spent most of their time riding ATVS, camping, and target shooting. She also loved animals of any kind and had never met one that didn’t love her right back, especially her beloved cat Tommy.

She loved to spend time with her children and watching her grandbabies grow. She would often take them on walks to feed the ducks at their favorite pond. There was never any question about the lengths she would go for each and every one of them just to see them smile.

Tiss had an infectious personality, and never met an enemy. Her smile was the light of every room she walked into. She was fearless and loved finding new hobbies and new friends to adventure with.

She is survived by her husband Stan Martindale, her sister Karen (Brad) Sears, her three daughters, Natalie (Chad) Baker, Melyssa (Josh) Rolph, and Amanda (Chris) Young, her two stepchildren Rob (Carrie) Martindale and Kelly (Matt) Noorda.  11 Grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Shirley Ann Etterlein and her brother Bill Etterlein.

The Family would also like to thank Tiss’s Niece Diane, whom she thought of like a daughter, for providing her with such wonderful, loving care during the last year of her life.

A viewing for friends family will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah
