Shelley Burch Clarke
OGDEN- On March 8, 2012 we lost a beautiful woman in our lives. Shelley Burch Clarke passed away after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones, the same way she lived her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister in law and aunt to a loving family. Shelley was born in Ogden on April 6, 1951 to Richard and Renee Burch. In 1978, she met the love of her life John Clarke, whom she later married in July of 1979. Together they raised two sons, Jonny and Spencer Clarke.
Shelley''s family was the most important thing in her life. She loved to spend time with her family either hosting family swim parties, golfing, playing games or just socializing. While raising a terrific family, Shelley also established a distinguished career in the finance world. She spent a total of 37 years with Goldenwest Credit Union, including the last 11 years as the President/CEO, until her retirement in December 2011. During her tenure as President/CEO, Shelley navigated Goldenwest into a new era of strength and growth. She shared her talents with many organizations and served on a number of advisory boards and councils, some of which was being the Chairperson of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce, and participation in the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, The Credit Union Executive Society, The Governor''s Advisory Board, and Chairperson of The Utah League of Credit Unions. Shelley was recognized as one of the top businesswoman in Utah in 2001.
Even though Shelley was a career woman, Family was always the most important part of her life. Shelley''s loving family includes her Husband, John Clarke; Sons, Jonny and Spencer Clarke; Granddaughter, Payten Clarke; Father and Mother, Richard and Renee Burch; Sister and Brother in Law, Becky and Mike Meehan; Sister in Law, Janice Clarke; Brother and Sister in Law, Richard and Joan Petty and many Nephews and Nieces. Shelley was preceded in death by her brother Larry Burch, who was very dear to her heart.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held several callings.
Shelley touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.
