Sharon Lynn Blake Ridge, age 88, of Farmington, Utah, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, after a hard-fought battle of declining health.
Sherry was born June 19, 1936, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Dr. Gordon Wellington Blake and Edna Adelina Blake. She was the first of two daughters and is survived by her sister, Debby.
Sherry grew up in several places as her father was in the military. Her teenage years were spent in Pendleton, Oregon. She attended Pendleton High and was involved in many extracurricular activities. She especially loved being a cheerleader, participating in Girl’s State, and performing in school musical productions. Music was a huge part of her life. She was an accomplished pianist and could often be heard harmonizing beautifully to any song on the radio.
She attended the University of Arizona where cheerleading and sorority life became highlights of her time there. She met and married Warren Cullen Ridge Jr. on April 5, 1958. They were married until 1978 and had three children together.
For Sherry, family was everything that mattered. She was the consummate chef, chauffeur, and homemaker. Our home was the safest place to be, and her devotion to her children was immeasurable. We will be forever grateful for the warm and tender influence she had in our lives. As her children grew older, she ventured out into the work force. Most notably, she became the senior executive assistant to the CEO of the Arizona Bank from 1987-1992. In her later years, she volunteered in the gift shop at Lakeview Hospital.
Her hobbies included travel, tennis, dancing, and gardening. Plants thrived under her care. One of her favorite memories was playing tennis with Farrah Fawcett in Hawaii.
As her health declined, she wrote down every detail about her children and grandchildren. The lists and notes were endless. She wanted to remember everything about her family’s lives. She saved every card and letter from friends and family for decades. She would often reread them and reminisce about the beautiful friendships she shared. She had a curious mind. She wanted to know everything about places, movies, books, health issues, nature, and current events. She loved to learn, but it is her love and loyalty toward her family and friends that will always be remembered.
Sherry is survived by her three children, Stacey Gibbs (Michael), Felicia Beauchaine (Rick), Tripp Ridge (Gretel), nine grandchildren, Matthew Gibbs (Bridget), Jacob Gibbs (Haley), Lucas Gibbs (Autumn), Nicholas Gibbs (Emmy), Ella Beauchaine, Jack Beauchaine, Louis Beauchaine, Cullen Mo Ridge, and Whitt B Ridge, and four great grandchildren (J, Cal, Ridge, and Blake).
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. David Horsley and Rhiannon for years of dedicated care. Her hospice nurses, Harmony and Kendra, guided us through this process with so much love. We are also very grateful to the many loving hands at Whisper Cove Assisted Living in Kaysville for helping make this transition with grace and dignity.
