Sharon Jill (Caswell) Kunz

Sharon Jill Caswell Kunz, 68, passed away peacefully, late evening, Saturday, September 24, 2022. She was born on October 3, 1953, in Montebello, California the daughter of Billy J. and Mary Ellen Carver Caswell. She spent an enjoyable childhood with one older sister and one younger sister roaming on horseback the then undeveloped hills surrounding Whittier, California, eating pomegranates and avocados. As a youth she loved to dance ballet with the American Ballet of Los Angeles, and later at the University of Utah with Ballet West. 

Sharon was a Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Utah and studied Special Education with a focus in deaf education. While studying, she met her eternal companion Fred Kunz. They were married on June 6, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple. Fred and Sharon cherished their time together, often going to the ballet and the theater. As a family they enjoyed boating, bike rides, hiking, road trips to the beach at Bear Lake and California, and numerous ski trips to Utah, Colorado, Oregon, and Canada. Together they raised 6 children. 

She enjoyed tennis, needlepoint, baking, painting and being active. She loved being with her children, grandchildren, and the neighborhood children. She was often found carpooling, watching various sport activities, baking, and shopping. Another favorite included playing dolls, having tea parties, arts and crafts, and musicals with children. She was truly a mom and grandmother to everyone. 

She is survived by her husband Frederick Kunz; six children: F. Isaac (Melissa) Kunz, Mary Adele (Cameron) Millard, Paul (Micki) Kunz, James Kunz, Elizabeth Kunz, and Sarah (Andrew) Parsons; and 10 grandchildren; also survived by her sister Darice (David) Rouatt. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, October 8,2022 at the LDS Chapel located on 4032 S. 2300 E. Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends may visit with the family from 10:30am-12:30pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, 3401 S. Highland Dr. SLC. UT. 84106
