Shari Malia Montag, born on January 12, 1971, in Garden Grove, California to Lorraine and Gerry Francis, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025. Malia leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion, traits that defined her throughout her life.

A graduate of Weber High School, Malia furthered her education at Dixie State University, laying the foundation for her successful career as a Clerk at the Ogden and Layton District Courts. She carried out her duties with unwavering dedication, serving the community with a sense of pride.

Malia married Scott Bexell, together they had three children, he passed away in 2004. Her family and love grew when she met and married Mitchell Jay Montag on June 11, 2016.

Malia was known for her warm spirit, always putting others before herself. Her kindness extended beyond her professional life, as she cherished her family, particularly her grandchildren. Time spent babysitting brought her immense joy, and she made countless memories that will be forever treasured by those who knew her.

In her personal life, Malia enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. Malia was an amazing cook our family frequently gathered to share a delicious meal she had prepared. She loved sharing her treats with others and even taught members of the family in cooking classes. She delighted in side-by-side trips with her beloved husband, Mitch, exploring the beauty of nature. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for camping and appreciating the breathtaking sunsets that painted the sky.

A member of the First Baptist Church, Malia's faith influenced her life and how she treated everyone around her. Her caring demeanor and love for others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Malia Montag’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, an enduring reminder of the love and joy she spread throughout her life.

She is survived by husband, Mitch; children, Megan (Cecil) VanAusdal, Carrson (Lacee) Bexell, Caden Bexell, Kyle (Katy) Montag, Weston (Shae) Montag, Mason Montag, Olivia Montag, Jenaca Montag, and bonus son, Kenyon Carroll; grandchildren, Blakelee, Kodi, Zanyah, Koehyn, Kaedric, Skyleigh, and two bonus grandchildren, Zaiden and Kaizen. Also survived by her parents, Lorraine and Gerry Francis; brother, Patrick (Tara) Francis; nieces and nephew Aleia (Taylor) Muirhead and Cameron (Sierra) Francis.

Preceded in death by her infant brother, Christopher Francis.

Private family services will be held.
