Sharen Smeding Hislop

Sharen Smeding Hislop, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 21, 2023, in Clearfield, Utah, at the age of 68. Sharen was born on June 22, 1954, in Ogden, Utah, to Wilford John Smeding Jr. and Ellen Rose Dutson Smeding.

Sharen was a loving and caring person who always put her family first. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, especially during family movie nights, where they often watched Mama Mia. She also had a great sense of humor and always found a way to laugh even in difficult times. Sharen loved Christmas and had a wonderful collection of Santa Clauses. Sharen was a talented toll painter and enjoyed making crafts for her loved ones. She was also a skilled cosmetologist and worked at the Weber State University bookstore. Sharen wanted to say "so long farewell, aufwiedersehen, goodbye..."

Sharen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She found joy in serving her community and loved ones.

Sharen is survived by her loving husband, Lamont Hislop, her five children, Ami (James) Fry, Kimberlee (Darin) Rich, Amber (Jeremy) Beeson, Jonathan (Heidi) Hislop, and Hilary (Kendall) Black, her 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. As well as her mother-in-law, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Ellen Smeding, one sister Diane Smeding and her father-in-law, Charles Maun Hislop.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Melanie Acres Ward Building, 1895 South Main Street Clearfield, Utah. Friends may visit with family Sunday, June 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. She will be laid to rest at the Liberty Cemetery. Sharen will be missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on through her family and friends.
