Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sharen Heaton Draayer, returned home to her Father in Heaven on Thursday, September 4, 2025, after a long struggle with dementia.
She was born on June 27, 1937, in Hurricane, Utah, to Joseph Linden Heaton and Phyllis Lovinia Webb. Sharen grew up with a love for family, faith, and service that remained with her throughout her life. She was previously married and sealed to Gerald Vincent Hogge, with whom she raised four children: Phyllis, Craig, Janet, and JoLine.
On January 18, 1975, Sharen was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple to her eternal companion, Fredrick William Draayer. Together, they shared a life devoted to their family and faith. Sharen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Fred served together at the Ogden Inner City Mission, as well as in the stake mission.
Sharen also served faithfully for many years as Relief Society President, giving time and service to those in her ward. She was known for her remarkable ability to “feed an army at a moment’s notice,” and her family and friends will forever cherish the meals she so lovingly prepared. She found joy in creating beautiful quilts, gardening, cooking from scratch, making baby blankets, and other handmade treasures, and giving them to family and friends. Sharen also loved to travel with Fred and spend time visiting with their friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred; her parents; and her siblings, Roma Heaton, Max Linden Heaton, Colleen Heaton, Glen Webb Heaton, and Mona Rae Heaton. She was also preceded in death by her children, Don, Samuel Douglas, Dirk DaLayne, Phyllis, and Shawn; and grandchildren Lynsee Marriott and Steven Warner.
Sharen is lovingly remembered by her two surviving brothers, Paul Heaton and Harvard Heaton; Craig (Susan) Hogge, Janet (Dan) Johansen, JoLine (Stephen) Hogge, Darsie Marriott, and Danice (Larry) Trimble. Sharen’s posterity includes more than 56 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West. Friends may visit with family prior to service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
