Scott was born on Salt Lake City on July 6, 1952 to Jean (Peterson) and Eldon L. Lewis. He spent his early years in Utah, later moving to Ohio with his mother and stepfather. He returned to Utah for his senior year of high school, graduating in June of 1970.
During that summer, he met his future wife, Ellen Conklin. They were married on December 26, 1970, in Salt Lake City. On December 30 1970, Scott entered the US Army, fulfilling his lifelong ambition of being a soldier. He and his family moved to Utah after his retirement, settling in Clearfield. He worked again on Hueys for a contractor on Hill AFB, building flight controls for a private company in Ogden, and finally as a tool and parts attendant on Hill AFB, retiring for good on January 1, 2014.
Scott spent his spare time working on classic cars, building models of aircraft, vehicles, and the occasional ship. He also enjoyed studying military history, watching old movies and reading mystery novels.
Scott was kind and outgoing and enjoyed meeting and talking with all people. He especially enjoyed time with his family.
