Sarah Songer-Smith, 31, passed away from cancer on December 28, 2011. She had been battling advanced stage Mesothelioma since its diagnosis in April of this year.

Sarah entered this world on July 19, 1980. She was born at home in Huntsville to Pat and Steve Songer. Sarah was one of six kids including, Casey, Jake, Jenny, Katie, and Emily. Her family loved her hilarious wit, her sincere love for others, her amazing talents, and her ability to connect with people including her adoring nieces and nephews.

On August 14, 2009 Sarah married her very best friend, Shaun Smith. They were deeply devoted to each other. Shaun was the love of Sarah''s life and they inspired each other to live life to the fullest. Shaun was a loving and capable caregiver and we are so grateful for all the he did for her.

When Sarah married Shaun she became the step-mother to Rachel and Jack, two of the most adorable and likeable children there could be. They were her only focus when they were with her and she never passed up an opportunity to hug them or tell them how much she loved them. They loved and admired her very much.

Sarah had a strong, vibrant personality and she was driven by a sense of adventure and an excitement for life. She had a feisty spirit and was hilarious, charming, and stunningly gorgeous. She was also brilliant and incredibly talented in the arts. She was an amazing actress, writer, pianist, singer, and artist.

She was passionate about music. She taught herself the guitar and wrote her own songs which she performed at various engagements. It was awesome to hear her sing and always so fun to see the crowd of friends and extended family who would come to enjoy her music.

Sarah was kind and generous. She was willing to share or give anything she had to anyone in need. She made friends easily and enjoyed a close relationship with numerous loyal friends.

As a professional counselor, Sarah dedicated her life to helping troubled teens overcome life challenges.

She maintained her grace and delightful sense of humor until the very end. We love you, Sarah, and we will miss you so much.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
