Sara Mortenson, 34, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.  She was born on December 29, 1981 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Paul James and Lori Peterson Mortenson.  Sara was raised in Roy and Plain City and graduated from Fremont High School Class of 2000.  She later attended Weber State University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education.  She then received her Master Degree in Education with an emphasis in reading from Grand Canyon University in Arizona in 2010.

Sara was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She loved playing tennis and lettered in it in High School.  She enjoyed singing and had a beautiful soprano voice.  She loved children and reading; she particularly enjoyed her nieces and nephews.  Her other hobbies included scrapbooking and complex puzzles, which she was extremely adept at.  Sara will be remembered for her unfailing kindness and consideration of others.  She was always smiling.

Sara is survived by her mother, Lori P. Anderson and father, Dean E. Anderson of Plain City; siblings, Tammy (Greg) Reynolds, Brigham City; Marcie Hill, Ogden; Christy (Jeremie) Poppleton, Wellsville: Alisha (Tom) Gibby, Corinne; Brian (Heidi) Anderson, South Weber; Trisha Anderson, Corinne; Michael (Kira) Mortenson, Layton; Scott Mortenson, North Ogden; and Jan (Spencer) Hafer, South Weber.  She is also survived by her grandparents, Ray and Merlene Peterson, North Ogden and Jackie Mortenson, Ogden.  She was preceded in death by her father, Paul J. Mortenson and grandfather, Ray Mortenson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City 6th Ward Chapel, 2280 North 3600 West.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
