Listen to Obituary

Sandra Inez Herman, age 78, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was a longtime resident of Layton, Utah.

Sandra was born on December 23, 1947, in Ogden, Utah, to Howard Clinton Hoyt and Ruth L. Horr. She grew up in Ogden and Price, Utah and graduated from Weber High School in 1966.

Sandra was married twice during her life. She married Glen “Jack” Christiansen on June 9, 1967, in Ogden, Utah. Later, she married Raymond “Joe” Herman Jr. on May 31, 1975, also in Ogden. Raymond preceded her in death.

Throughout her life, Sandra lived in many places. In addition to Ogden and Price, at various points, she lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Vandenberg Air Force Base, California; Suwon City, South Korea; and ultimately settled in Layton, Utah. These experiences shaped her curiosity, resilience, and love of learning. She was free spirited and at one point lived in a teepee in the mountains of California.

In her younger years, she enjoyed playing the violin and tennis. She was an avid reader throughout her life and found great joy in genealogy, crocheting, cross-stitch, gardening, and other creative pursuits. She especially loved researching family history and preserving connections across generations. She had a long accounting career at Hill Air Force Base that allowed her to travel across the country and meet people from all over the world. Upon her retirement in 2011, she had more time to devote to her hobbies and family, including her beloved pug, Tater Tot.

Sandra was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found comfort in the friendships and community that it brought. Her goal each day was to find one beautiful thing, whether it be a flower, a song, or a friendly smile at the grocery store.

Sandra is survived by her son, Pablo (Glory) Herman; her daughter, Robin (Brian Delmolino) Herman; her grandchildren Nicholas (Brieanne), Christopher, Camille, Brandon (Anna), Nathan, Phillip (Aubrey) Markham, Sarah (Jaxson), Mirae Hadden, Pamela, and Mary; her great-grandson, Henry; her sister, Sherry (Bill) Bernard; and her brother-in-law, Patrick Herman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Herman Jr.; her parents, Howard Clinton Hoyt and Ruth L. Horr; her brothers, Lane and Kim; and her grandson, William Markham.

Sandra will be remembered for her quiet strength, love of family, creative spirit, and the legacy of care and devotion she leaves behind.
