Samuel W. Huddleston

May 18, 1941 — June 14, 2025

Sam Huddleston passed away peacefully from cancer on June 14, 2025, at home in the arms of his loving wife, Susanne.

Sam lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and deep love for his wife and family. Sam was trustworthy, loyal and kind and admired by his family and many friends.

Samuel Walter Huddleston was born May 18, 1941, in Sheridan, Colorado to Samuel Timothy Huddleston and Helen Lois Cassidy Huddleston. Sam graduated from West High School in Denver, Colorado in 1959, then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps stationed in California and Okinawa, Japan. Much of Sam’s honorable life was shaped by his commitment to his military service. Following his term in the Marines, he attended the University of Colorado on a GI Bill and received a degree in Social Studies Education. Sam worked many years in meat departments at Safeway, which led to his employment with the USDA as a Federal Meat Inspector. He was a passionate football fan (Go Broncos!) and enjoyed traveling and golfing with his wife. Sam looked forward to watching the sports activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and regularly attended their events. Following retirement, Sam and Suz loved spending winters in Phoenix, Arizona and Mesquite, Nevada where they made many new friends.

Sam and the love of his life, Susanne, married August 15, 1997. He felt honored to be a pillar of love and support to Susanne’s family. Sam was their father, grandfather and great- grandfather by choice, offering his wisdom, care and affection. He will be warmly remembered and deeply missed by all of his chosen family.

Sam is survived by his wife, Susanne Sessions Henderson Huddleston, her son John Spencer (wife, Kim) Henderson and daughter, Brenda Henderson. Also surviving are three grandsons, Taylor (Sapphire), Tyler and Tony (Julie) Perkins, one granddaughter, Collette (Neilo) Henderson Taylor, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Pamela Diane Drake, her husband Frederick, and their three sons, Cassidy, Zachary and Lucas. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Ronald Leroy Huddleston, and step-grandson, Paul Russell Henderson.

A celebration of life will be held in Sam’s honor on Monday, June 30, 2025, at The Barn Community Center at 3785 Green Farm Way in West Haven, Utah, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Friends are invited to gather with his family to share a light meal and memories of Sam’s life.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
