Listen to Obituary

Ryan Kent Hill passed away on Wednesday, December 17, leaving behind a family who adored him, a home filled with memories, and a legacy of love, loyalty, and legendary hugs.

Ryan was an incredibly proud and loving father to his two children, Brynner (Brynley) and Big Guy (Hudson), who were the very center of his world. He lived for them, believed in them fiercely, and cherished every moment they spent together. He knew they were destined for great things and carried that pride with him always. Ryan’s greatest joy was time spent with his children. That joy defined him.

Ryan was always grateful for Rebecca and the many years they spent raising their kids together. He always turned to her for council and care.

An outdoorsman at heart, Ryan loved fishing—so much so that cold weather was merely a suggestion. He could be found standing for hours, patiently reeling in fish, fully content and completely at peace. He also loved watching sports with his mom, especially football, and made Sundays feel just a little more important. Good-natured rivalry between The Chiefs and the Broncos happened often. (Ryan never wavered—Go all the way Broncos.)

Ryan was a builder, both by trade and by nature. He had the privilege of working side by side with his dad, constructing beautiful things and making memories that will last forever. He was patient, dependable, and supportive—showing up for family no matter the circumstance, even when it meant attending Swiss Days or braving Disneyland. That was Ryan: steady, loyal, and always there.

Ryan worked for Kimberly Clark for 17 years where he met Sophorn and they have loved and supported each other ever since. Ryan loved Sophorn deeply and affectionately often referring to her as a “good girl”—a phrase that never failed to make those around him smile.

Ryan loved all music. There wasn’t a genre he didn’t appreciate or a song he couldn’t name. If you ever found yourself on the opposing team during a game of Hitster, you already knew you were in trouble. Ryan knew his boy bands, every other band, and somehow the artist and song title—often before the first lyric was even sung. Music was one of his great joys, and he loved sharing it with everyone around him. The karaoke truck was always a hit, especially with the kids, and created memories filled with laughter, confidence, and joy.

Ryan was blessed with parents, Kent and Linda Hill, whose constant love and support were a guiding force throughout his life. He was also deeply loved by his sisters, Lisa Wizinsky and Amy Packard , as well as his brother in law Chris Packard, three nieces and one nephew who were lucky to know his kindness, humor, and gentle strength.

Ryan believed deeply in eternal families and the plan of salvation. We take comfort in the knowledge that through Jesus Christ, death is not the end, and that families can be together forever. We trust that Ryan has been welcomed home by loving family members on the other side of the veil and that he now continues his role as a protector, cheerleader, and constant presence in the lives of those he loves most—especially Brynley and Hudson.

We love you, Ryan, and look forward to the day we will again feel one of your magnificent hugs, see your gentle smile, and hear your signature laugh.
