Ryan John Bassett

February 1, 1986 — March 8, 2025

Roy

The world will be a little quieter now as Ryan John Bassett has left the stage. On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Ogden lost a diverse and talented musician. He is most known to enjoy playing funk and blues, while also always being willing to help others improve their skills and love music. He worked many years at The Guitar Center and formed great friendships with his coworkers there.

His passion for music transcended his technical skill, natural ability, and showmanship. Music was a way of being that inspired those he came in contact with. He wanted everyone to have joy in music, encouraging everyone to grab a tambourine or sing louder.

Together with his partner, Honey, and many of their friends, they created the Spring and Fall Equinox Festivals. The festivals were a showcase for bands throughout Utah, a celebration of our creative spirit. This collaboration shaped and fueled the Ogden music scene and grew into the Ogden FamDam. Volunteers and musicians involved in these festivals formed a lasting bond. For years, he grilled up enough meat to feed an army as people came through to catch up and enjoy the music from the jam room. Ryan created a communal spirit in the music community.

Ryan was born February 1, 1986. He is much loved by his family including Brent and Karen Bassett, sister Chelsea Duven, brother Brody Bassett (Erica Schild), niece Arianna Duven, nephew Nickoli Duven, Partner Pamela (Honey) Stevens, stepchildren Mackenzie Turner and Skyler Stevens and grandchildren Jasper, Eldon, Lily, and Sammy along with a long list of close friends.

A Potluck Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. at Lindquist’s Mortuary Community Room, 3434 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
