Ruth LaRue Bosworth Lemon, 95, of Murray, Utah, completed her mortal journey and passed away surrounded by loving family on August 27, 2024. She was very courageous and endured her recent health issues with great dignity and calm.
Born March 1, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to Arnold Wayne and Gertrude (Schuenmann) Bosworth, she was the second child and was raised in Brigham City, Utah, with her older brother and two younger sisters.
Ruth raised six wonderful children in Willard, Utah, dedicating her life to her family and raising them with love. She instilled in them the values of kindness and perseverance. She was a talented musician, seamstress, cook, and author, writing many roadshows, school programs, and countless number of church talks for her children, nieces and nephews.
Ruth moved to the Salt Lake Valley in October 1978, settling in Murray in 1988, where she designed and assisted in the building of her dream home. She was an immaculate housekeeper and gardener, spending hours in her yard planting and maintaining many flowers, trees, and bushes, and decorating it with gnomes, which she loved.
She was adventurous, hardworking, independent, creative and extremely talented musically. Ruth played the organ, piano, flute, and accordion, which was always the favorite at family reunions, particularly when she played with her brother, Wayne Bosworth, who played the guitar and sometimes the harmonica. Ruth taught piano and accordion to dozens of young musicians.
She was a hard worker and a quick learner working in many capacities: daycare owner, music teacher, substitute teacher, high school counselor, administrative assistant, and her favorite, as a legal assistant.
Ruth was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel and priesthood blessings. She served a mission in Montreal, Canada. She served in many callings, but she was most passionate in her service as an organist, which she did for more than 70 years.
We will all miss her more than words can express, but we are so thankful we have the knowledge that we will be with her again. Our hearts are full of love and gratitude for all she did for us, the examples she set, and we will cherish the incredible memories she created for us.
Ruth is survived by her children; LaDawn (Kent) Oman, Linda Merrill, Janet (Joel) Turner, Bryce (Tamara) Lemon, Lynn (Steve) Nelson, and Sharon Davis. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, by her son-in-law, Gene Merrill, and by her great-grandson, Taylor Connors.
