Ruth Lavon Hess

Ruth Lavon Gallacher Hess, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013. She was born on December 27, 1924 to Kenneth David and Gladys King Gallacher.

Ruth was born and raised in Ogden, but spent brief periods in Los Angeles and Denver. She was a proud graduate of Ogden High School Class of 1943. On March 23, 1945 she married Theron Hess. They had three sons, Michael, Brent, and Randy.

A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Ogden, Ruth served as a Deacon, and member of Presbyterian Women as well as Women''s Bible Circle. She was a tireless volunteer at the church''s annual Rummage Sale.

Ruth stayed active with both the Birthday Club, and Rodeos Luncheon Groups. As counterpart to Theron, she was part of the Does Benevolent Patriotic Order, Drove No. 27.

In her spare time Ruth loved bowling, and watching her soap operas "As the World Turns" and "The Young & the Restless" and then calling friends to discuss the episodes.

She loved the "3 Ds" which for Ruth were Diamonds, Dancing & Dining Out.

Ruth is survived by sons, Michael Kenneth Hess, Brent Rick Hess, and Randy Kip Hess; and grandchildren, Heather Ann Hess-Lindquist, Michelle Hess Torgenson, Zachary Kip Hess, Haydan Marie Hess, and Christian Parker Hess, and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Parker Hess, and one grandson, Christopher Lee Brown.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the 1st Presbyterian Church, 880 28th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
