Ruth Kleinman Ellsworth

May 10, 1932 — July 1, 2022

West Point

Ruth Kleinman Ellsworth, 90, passed away early on July 1, 2022, from age-related conditions.  Ruth was born May 10, 1932, in Mesa, Arizona to Lawrence Henry Kleinman and Mary Orvilla Bond. She grew up on the 40-acre family farm and learned to do the usual chores involved with that occupation with her siblings: Margaret, Richard, Karl, and Alan.

Always a good student, she enjoyed attending Mesa High, BYU, and ASU.

On April 9, 1953, Ruth married Robert Lovell Ellsworth in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. They have lived in Arizona, Texas, Kansas, Wisconsin, and most recently, in Utah. They have loved the locations, and especially, the people of each community.

Their children include one son, Steven Robert (Louise de Boer); and four daughters: Amy, Shawn (GayIan Colledge), Marilyn (Kirk Davis), and Lori (Robert Gardner). She now has 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren including one born the day after her death.

Ruth has traveled to Mexico, much of the continental United States, and Hawaii (three times) and enjoyed vicarious travel through her husband to Germany, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and China.

After moving to Utah, Ruth and Robert formed happy relationships with the members   and friends of the Clearfield 22nd Ward and West Point 13th Ward, many of whom continued to visit Ruth to the day she died.

Some of her interests have included gardening, sewing, quilting, piano, organ, crossword puzzles, secretarial work, and church and community service. Ruth has served in many capacities in leadership and as a teacher and ministering sister in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served missions with her husband in the Mesa Arizona and Ogden Utah Temples. But her greatest joys were found in raising a family and in homemaking.

She was preceded in death by a still-born daughter, Amy; husband, Robert; sister, Margaret; brothers, Richard and Karl; and a great grandson, Lincoln. She has loved her family well.

Ruth was grateful to have been served by loving nurses, CNA's, and staff at The Family Tree Assisted Living Center, and the skilled and caring people at A Plus Home Health and Hospice who made her last years more comfortable.
