Ruth Arlene Briggs

May 3, 1931 — February 6, 2024

Our Lovely Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. All but 93 years old Returned home to Heavenly Father on Tues Feb 6, 2024.

She was also known as Sue or Suzie, the youngest of 9 children. She was born on May 3, 1931, in Wendell ID to Sylvia Mann and Clarence Winegar. She was raised and educated in Woods Cross UT.

She is and has always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arlene shared her love of Jesus, in her heart with everyone and in so many ways.

She married Elton Briggs on September 19, 1959. Their marriage was later sealed in the Temple on Sept 24, 1971, soon followed their three sons, Thomas Elton, Clarence Alan and  Brent Winegar. They built two homes in Syracuse Utah, the last on 3000 West where she remained her whole life.

She began playing the piano at an early age and became the ward organist for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she played through countless church services, weddings, and funerals. She played as the ward organist for over 40 plus years for all services that came her way.  Our heavenly father used Arlene to bring a spirit of joy to all who heard her love in her music. To those who heard her play her music will always be heard in their hearts.

Please don’t think of her as gone away, her journey has just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one just think of her as resting from the sorrows, and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no Days or years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing, but our sadness can really pass away and think of her as living in the hearts she touched for nothing is ever lost and she is loved by so many and so much. To know her was to Love her.

Mom spent 44 years working as the chief deputy clerk for the Davis County assessor’s office. Where she was well known an cherished by most of the residents of Davis County. She also collected election ballots and counted votes the old fashioned “Honest” way for many years.

She was also a member and served as the treasury of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers or DUPs of the Rachel Warren Camp.

Mom spent so many hours every year making Spring party favors from plastic canvas & filling them with chocolate, nuts, and mints if you were lucky if you received one these cute little hand stitched Easter baskets and then at Christmas, she would make a house, or a Santa or snowman basket again filled with goodies as a favor for their parties.

Mom also enjoyed cross-stitch and crocheting afghans and made the most amazing Christmas stockings eve for every family member, close to 40 hand stitched & beaded stockings …We will forever cherish these handmade gifts of hers.

Mom has spent the last 19 months in Assisted living in Roy UT.

We want to personally thank each and every one of you who took the time to visit her regularly and keep her days busy, especially Kathy & Jeralynn who she became friends with there. Also, a special thank you to her neighbors Craig and Sandy Harris, Rosanne and Robbie Birch for their love and support.
