Ruth Dawson Barry "Together Again"
Ruth was born May 24, 1917, in Ogden Utah. She returned to her Father in Heaven on January 21st 2012. She was the 7th and last child born to James and Lettie Child Dawson. Ruth was a blessed and happy child. She loved working with her family in the family garden and helping her father at the cannery. She was a straight A student and excelled in art.
On Sunday July 17, 1938, she married her high school sweetheart George Barry in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 1957. Together George and Ruth had three children; Letty, Diane, and Emory.
They had a wonderful and very happy marriage, which lasted 60 years until George became ill and passed away in 1998.
Ruth was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking for her family, neighbors, and friends. She always had the best garden in the neighborhood. She did the gardening for the Danbury Lane Condominiums in Bountiful, Utah. She was able to grow begonias as large as grapefruits in areas that no one else could even grow begonias.
She had a sweet and loving disposition that endeared her to all she befriended. She was an example of strength and courage as she bravely endured the ravages of old age with dignity and nobility.
Ruth is survived by her 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Gregory Barry. The family would like to thank the staff of Silverado Senior Living for their kindness and care rendered to mother.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd. Friends and family may visit on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
