Ruby Murakami MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE – Ruby Murakami, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Ruby was born October 7, 1913 in Okayama, Japan, the daughter of Makinojo and Ishi Oka. Ruby graduated from Weber High School in 1932. She married Yorimoto “Yoli” Murakami on January 29, 1936. She and her husband owned and operated a farm in Marriott for many years. Yoli preceded her in death on October 29, 1979. After retiring from farming she maintained a large vegetable garden. She was well known for sharing her delicious produce with friends and neighbors. Ruby was also a great cook and the family remembers many wonderful Sunday dinners around her table. Above all, Ruby was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had time to help others. Her sweet and unselfish nature will be missed by all that knew her. Ruby was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Marriott-Slaterville 1st Ward where she was a Visiting Teacher for many years. She is survived by her son, Rick (Darcelle) Murakami, North Ogden; daughter, Buzzy (Jim) Ito, Marriott-Slaterville; daughter, Sherry, (Dave) Wadman, Marriott-Slaterville; grandchildren, James (Amy) Ito; Collin (Kristin) Ito; Mark Ito; Steven (Kristie) Ito; Phil Ito; Jared (Jamie) Wadman; Justin (Priscilla) Wadman; Candice Wadman; Courtney Murakami; Christian Murakami; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Kay (Ruthie) Oka, Ogden; brother-in-law, Noel Okamoto, North Ogden; and sisters-in-law, Esther Oka and Yo Oka. She was preceded in death by her husband Yoli Murakami; sisters, Susie Okamoto and Emma Fujiki; brothers, James Oka and Mike Oka; and her parents, Makinojo and Ishi Oka. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5th at 2 p.m. at the Marriott-Slaterville 1st Ward Chapel, 250 North 1500 West, with Bishop Danny Brown officiating. Friends and family may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Erica, Stacie and others from Hearts for Hospice, as well as her caring neighbor, Wilma Packer, for the loving care given to our mother.
