NORTH OGDEN a€" Mom passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 19, 2007. Her family and friends were able to enjoy the last weeks of her life in pleasant visits with mom, for which we will ever be grateful.

Rubie was born to Joe and Dora Marler Williams on July 18, 1919, on their ranch in Clear Creek, Idaho. She was one of eleven children, several of whom died in infancy. She had an exciting childhood, and we never tired of her great stories.

The family moved to Ogden in 1926; Dora, Rubie''s mother became a well known, very talented artist in the Ogden area. Rubie attended the Ogden schools and worked while attending Ogden High.

Rubie married Vance Chamberlain in 1939. When they moved to North Ogden, Rubie worked at the Chick-Chick Inn, a famous restaurant in North Ogden. Serving and getting acquainted with the servicemen when they were home on leave and wanting a good home-cooked meal was one of the highlights of her life.

Rubie''s husband Vance was killed in an industrial accident in 1944, leaving her with two young sons. In 1945 she married Verle Newman Barker; and in 1967 they were sealed, along with their children, in the Logan Temple. They spent their entire married life in North Ogden.

Mom had a lifelong interest in and appreciation for art, nurtured by her mother and carried on with her daughter Denice. She loved to read and was eclectic in her topics. She was a great cook; smells and tastes of family dinners remain with us. Since she worked as a cook in Weber County Schools for many years, she always made large servings, which allowed us all to take home lots of leftovers. She also worked at Davenport Electric, which was where King''s is now located. During WWII, she worked at the Utah Army Depot loading machine gun belts. One of Rubie''s greatest pleasures was her family, sharing in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She and dad were always there to help their children and attended every special function they possibly could.

Mom was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several different callings. She especially enjoyed the times with caring visiting teachers who served her faithfully over her years of being home bound. She truly "endured well" to the very end. We will always honor her life and memory, knowing we will be together once again and forever.

Rubie is survived by her six children; Dennis (Jean) Chamberlain, Roy; Robert (Marianne) Chamberlain, Farmington; Linda (Dave) Brown, North Ogden; Karen (Mark) Koncar, Alpine; Denice Barker (Lynn Cozzens), North Ogden; and Karla (Steve) Porter, North Ogden; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Shirley Wheeler of Ogden is her remaining sibling. Mom loved and enjoyed her nieces and nephews; they held special places in both mom and dad''s hearts, and their visits were always enjoyed.

We sincerely thank Ali''s Angels and Legacy Hospice, especially Gayla, Jeanie and Callie for the tender care they gave in the past few weeks. We knew mom was in loving hands when we could not be there.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 10 to 10:45 a.m.
