Royal Wiseman Swaner "Together Forever"

FARR WEST - Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Royal Wiseman Swaner, 96, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from complications of pneumonia at the Wasatch Care Center in Ogden. He was born in a log cabin on January 19, 1916 in Naf, Cassia, Idaho, the son of Agust John and Anna Adolfina SvA¤rd Swaner. He was a lifelong resident of Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1934.

On November 4, 1938, he married Helen Marie Mitchell, the love of his life for 59 years. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Royal served in the US Army, Company C, 23rd Infantry Regiment as a private. He received an Honorable Discharge in December 1945.

As finance clerk in the Washington Terrace LDS Ward for several years, he always perfectly balanced the tithes and offerings given each week.

Royal was very proud to be a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 312 Union for almost 70 years. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, traveling with his wife, crossword puzzles, and cryptoquotes. He has resided for the last 10 years at Westwood Village Mobile Home Park in Farr West. He enjoyed walking around the park and clubhouse when he could no longer ride his bike. It was very difficult for him when he had to give up driving at 92 because of failing eyesight.

Surviving are his three daughters, twins, Donna (Norm) Santwere, Farr West; and Shanna (John) Reid, Columbia, Missouri; and Sandra (Steve) Hayes, Henefer, Utah; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his sister, Viola Larson, Norwalk, California.

Royal was preceded in death by his beloved wife in 1997, parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
