Roy Hathaway Spradley

Roy Spradley passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the age of 86 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1937, in Lake City, Florida, to Roy and Mary Ethel Durrance Spradley. 

Roy married Lavora Capps on June 12, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren, and enjoyed 63 years always by each other’s side. 

Roy served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwest States. Besides his many professional accomplishments as a United States Postal Inspector he loved to be of service to others. He especially loved volunteering in the Boy Scouts of America and coaching various youth sports. 

Roy loved sports and enjoyed fishing and golfing with his friends. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, playing games together, telling stories, and laughing. He watched every grandchild’s sporting event, recital, or performance beaming with pride. His unwavering love and support for his family and others will always live in memory. 

Roy is survived by his wife, Lavora; sons, Biff, Brent, and Dean Spradley; daughter, Amy Mundy, and brothers, Clayton and David Spradley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ivone White.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to honor Roy by doing what he loved most, spending quality time enjoying your family and loved ones.
