Ronald Portley Ohlinger Grove passed away on December 6, 2012. He was born on January 18, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to Martha Ohlinger. At the age of two he was placed in the Children''s Home of Harrisburg in Paxtang, PA. He remained there until the age of 18 and then attended the US Merchant Marine Academy for 1 year.
He studied Civil Engineering for 2 A½ years at Penn State University and served honorably in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army.
Ron set out for Utah and USU in 1958 to study forestry. He met and married Sherrill Olsen of College Ward. He later earned his Masters Degree. They had many years of travel with the USFS. Ron was selected to work on a United Nations forest project for FAO in Rome, Italy.
He was a voracious reader, enjoyed most sports and traveled extensively with Sherrill. He spent his growing up years in an orphanage. He was the first person from the Children''s Home to graduate from college. All the things he accomplished in life, he did by himself. He was a wonderful father and beloved husband.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sherrill. He was the father of two children, David (Rochelle) and Jane, whom he loved so very much; his granddaughter, Marcy and a great-grandson, Tukker.
Cremation entrusted to Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary.
