Listen to Obituary

Ronald Arvid Frost, our beloved husband, father, son, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Ron was born in Glasgow, MT on June 14, 1961. He was the second of three kids born to Walt and Marian Frost. At the age of 5 he moved to Steilacoom, WA and graduated from Lakes High School in Lakewood, WA. A lifelong avid skier, Ron followed his passion and moved to Utah to attend Weber State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering.

His early career began at Hughes Aircraft in Los Angeles, where his love of the beach was quickly cemented. He then worked for St. Jude in Boston for a short period but ultimately returned back to Utah to join Merit Medical in 1991. At the time, Merit operated out of a single manufacturing facility in South Jordan, but during Ron’s tenure, he played a key role in expanding the company to nine global manufacturing sites. For over 30 years, Ron helped guide and facilitate significant growth and international expansion across the organization, ultimately retiring as Chief Operating Officer in 2022. He will be remembered for his loyalty, compassionate leadership, strong work ethic, and genuine kindness toward others.

Finding ways to serve others was one of his lifelong passions. Whether helping his in-laws next door, assisting anyone in need, or serving on the Board of Directors for Lantern House in Ogden, he consistently dedicated his time and energy to caring for others.

Upon retirement, Ron spent the past 3 years volunteering for the Gateway Victory Learning Center located in Kenya, Africa. Drawing on his past executive experience, Ron used his knowledge and leadership to create opportunities for Gateway’s children to succeed, and he worked tirelessly each day for this cause. Ron regularly stated that serving in this organization was one of his most rewarding experiences, and truly loved working and visiting the kids in Kenya.

Ron married Becky Lynn Ellis on June 2, 2002, and shortly after they welcomed their two boys, Ryan and Connor. Ron’s greatest joy was his family, and he loved nothing more than sharing his zest for life with them – especially through the many trips and unforgettable experiences they all enjoyed together.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ron simply loved life. At the time of his passing, he had traveled to six out of the seven continents, with a number of adventures lined up with his family. Ron loved living in Utah, where he could regularly be found on the slopes at Snowbasin throughout the winter, mountain biking, boating, and obsessively working in his garden. In the summer, he loved hosting barbecues on his patio, gathering friends and family and bringing together people from all walks of his life to feel welcome in his home.

Described as a loyal friend, Ron collected and maintained friendships from all chapters of his life. His caring nature and kindness left an indelible impression on all that knew him.

He was known for his dramatic flair beneath his calm exterior, and he created moments of levity and warmth amongst his friends and family. Ron loved easily, and he laughed often. His legacy is one of quiet strength, leadership, compassion, service, humor, and unwavering love. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the kindness and loyalty that defined his character.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Becky; his sons, Ryan and Connor; his parents, Walt and Marian Frost of Steilacoom, WA; his brother, Robert (Danielle) Frost of Bothell, WA; and sister, Diane Johnson of Butte, MT. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will miss him enormously.

Ron’s family would like to thank the staff of the McKay-Dee ICU for all their help in his final days.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Washington Heights Church, 1770 East 6200 South, Ogden. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
