Roland David Whatcott passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Farmington, Utah. Born on March 11, 1959, in Provo, Utah, to D. Keith Whatcott and Margaret Bigler. Roland grew up in Provo. He loved to fish, hunt, hike, ride motorcycles, with his group of friends – The Hairlips - and generally kept his guardian angels very busy!
He served a mission to Houston, Texas, which also included parts of Louisiana. Upon arriving home, he met a young lady in his religion class. Though she was a city girl, he taught her how to catch a fish and drive a stick shift. They were married on July 11, 1981, in the Provo Utah Temple. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career took them to Maryland, Washington, and back to Utah. After 30 years in computer science, he switched gears to start his own senior care agency in St. George, Utah.
He was a wonderful husband and father. He would take his five girls camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and four-wheeling. Later, he and Leslie were blessed with two sons, and he taught them all the outdoorsy skills, too. He was a deeply caring father and earned the love and respect of his children.
Besides many camping trips, Roland and Leslie traveled to Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and China. They loved seeing many parts of the world together.
Though he had a long and brave battle with Parkinson’s disease, he kept living and loving as best he could until his poor body was just worn out. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. We know that he is enjoying a joyful reunion with his father, mother, loving stepmother, brother, and brothers-in-law.
