Rodney Dewain Blood

Rodney “Rod” Dewain Blood, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kaysville, Utah, on October 19, 2025, at the age of 52.

Rod was a gentle soul, known for his soft-spoken nature and his unique, light-hearted sense of humor. He had a heart of gold and was deeply devoted to his family, especially his two sons, Redding and Justice, who were the pride and joy of his life. Rod cherished every moment spent with his boys, and his unwavering love for them was evident in everything he did.

A proud graduate of Davis High School, Rod carried his passion for learning and adventure throughout his life. He most recently worked at Bass Pro Shops in Farmington, where he shared his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the great outdoors. Rod was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he found joy in teaching others about field and upland game hunting, fishing, outdoor gear and the art of smoking meat. His enthusiasm was infectious, inspiring many to appreciate the beauty of the world around them.

Rod’s kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his generosity and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s challenges. Though his time with us was far too short, the love and memories he leaves behind will remain in our hearts forever.

Rod is survived by his beloved sons, Redding and Justice; his loving mother, Utahna; his sister, Christy; his brother, Ralph; his sisters-in-law, Nicole and Jinette; and his faithful golden lab, Copper. He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn; brother, Cary; and other cherished family members.

Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to a Celebration of Life to honor Rodney and share memories on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road.

As we mourn Rod’s passing, we find comfort in the hope and faith taught by Jesus Christ. We are assured that death is not the end, but a step in an eternal journey. Through the Savior’s Atonement and Resurrection, we are promised that Rod will rise again in glory, reunited with loved ones in a world of peace and joy. His spirit lives on, and we look forward to a glorious reunion where every tear will be wiped away, and love endures forever (Alma 40:23). Because of Jesus Christ, we know that life is eternal, families are forever, and every sunrise brings the promise of a new beginning.

Yet every sunset softly whispers that all things bright must find their rest;
The day grows quiet, shadows lengthen, and hearts recall what they loved best.

So let us cherish every morning and treasure every golden night;
For life is brief—a fragile wonder—a fleeting dance of dark and light.

Though Rod’s sun has set before us, his warmth and light remain,
In memories that gently linger, like dawn after the rain.
