Robert E. Peek

Robert E Peek, 84, passed away on August 10, 2023. He was born December 2, 1938 in Layton, Utah to Earl Peek and Mary Green Weaver. He spent most of life in Utah, except for a few years in Wyoming and North Dakota.

He began working at Hill Air Force Base, where he worked for 30 years. He took an early retirement and worked for DABS, and Manhein Auto Auction.

Robert married Sandra K. Sandall on October 13, 1962. They had three children, Jennifer (Andy) Mahina, Mark Peek, and Suzanne (Kalai) Fernandez. They later divorced. He married Jessie Lee Drew Yashoda on June 9, 1972. She had a daughter, Dawn (Mike) Allen. Their wedding was solemnized in the LDS Temple on June 9, 2006.

Robert is survived by his children; grandchildren, Loni (Shawn) Hammond, Bryan Allen, Hayley Allen, Karson Peek, Katie Peek, Stephanie Mahina, Joshua Peek, Pita Mahina, Mary Peek, and Jordan Fernandez; great-grandchildren, Kalisi, Mya, Stella, Millie, Ivy, Paige, Hayden (serving an LDS mission in Ghana, Africa), Tess, and Tate; brother, Gary Peek, Austin, TX; brother, Blaine (Beverly) Peek, West Valley City, UT; and sister, Sandra “Gert” Erckanbrack, Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Susan, wife Jessie and daughter Dawn.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as executive secretary and liaison.

Robert loved baseball and became an avid bowler. He and Jessie spent many years bowling and competing in many tournaments. He loved sports, the Utah Jazz, New York Yankees were some of his favorites, but his heart belonged to BYU Cougars Football and basketball. There wasn’t a stat or fun fact he didn’t know. He also had a passion for reading and watching old westerns.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
